BREAKING: First Female KNUST Vice Chancellor Is Prof. Rita Dickson

The Council of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology( KNUST), at its 258th Special Meeting held on June 25, 2020 has appointed Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson as the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST. Her appointment for a Four-Year Term, takes effect from 1st August, 2020.

Rita Akosua Dickson is a Ghanaian phytochemist ( a chemist who specializes in the chemistry of plants). She is a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where she graduated with Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy in 1994 and an MParm at in Pharmacognosy in 1999. She then pursed a PhD at Kings’ College London, University of London in 2003. Her work as a phytochemist covers the areas of bioactive natural products in the management of communicable and non-communicable diseases.

Prof. (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, succeeds Prof. Obiri Danso (“Kumasi Adolf Hitler”). A name he got after his popular decision to convert some single-gender halls of the University such as Kantanga into mixed halls.

She is happily married to Nana Dickson with four children. Congrats to her on her new appointment.
